Teaching

Resonance over force.

Singing is as natural as speaking.

Singing is everyone's birthright.

Good technique is achievable for every voice.

PRIVATE voice LESSONs

(1-hour duration)

I use a variety of approaches to teach singing:

Technical exercises based on anatomy and proprioceptive clarity

Consistent weekly work on specific songs we choose that explore pitch and rhythm

Focused practice that reconnects us to the feel of our own voices.

(grounded, in touch, ease, pleasure, out of our heads)

Be suprised by who you become when you rely on resonance rather than force.

It's always fun. Usually funny too.

How Lessons work

For the past 25 years, I have imparted a stable, clear, vocal foundation to my students, and wow, it's fun. I have a Master's degree from the Manhattan School of Music, where for many years I was a student of the formidable voice technician Trish McCaffrey.  I learned also from Hilda Harris and Heidi Skok, and have spent years immersed in learning Hindustani (Northern Indian) raga with Michael Harrison.
